Last night I was awoken by aspirating acid reflux, with the pain and vomiting that goes along with it. I made it to the bathroom, but there was a bit is side spray I need to clean up. Last week it was gout, and today it was the loss of vision straight ahead followed by visual hallucinations and other assorted migraine aura. I have some prescription meds for the migraine, but it needs to be taken with Benadryl. I’ve taken Benadryl before and it has had some minor side effects, but today it has completely wrecked me.

I read the list of side effects, and it looks like I’ve got about 90% of them. On the bright side my vision is back, but I am currently a walking disaster. I took half a day off last week because of a headache and didn’t want to do it again today so I stuck it out. Obviously I wasn’t my usual productive self. I just wonder what it’s like for my coworkers - is it better to have a borderline zombie or not have me there at all?

Getting old really sucks. Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s nap time...

I used to take it as a sleep aid before I decided that I really, really hated the feeling of being forcefully drowsy.

I was once prescribed a very, very strong opiod after getting an ember in my eye. Having a burned eyeball was nothing compared to how badly opioids affect me. 24 hours later I was lying on the couch desperately trying to will my limbs to move and 36 hours later I made it five minutes in my car before having to go home because I was going to throw up. If I live to 100, I’m developing a hardcore opium addiction.

I try not to touch opiods either.

A number of years ago I had my lower back operated on due to a couple of slipped disks. Once the surgery was over they took me back to my hospital room and proceeded to give me some type of opiod to help ease the pain. They didn’t seem to believe me in that I felt a hell of a lot better just not having the back pain. Anyway, they shot that stuff into me and I just felt my whole body go stupid. I can totally see the allure for people that use them. They’re dangerous as hell.

Nailed it!

Not as bad as the messed up problems I’ve had with Ambien, but still a bother.

I feel exactly the same way. On the one hand, I literally could not force myself to move a muscle, on the other, I really, really did not care, and that scared the shit out of me.

Other than a couple of burgers last week I can’t explain the gout since I eat a pretty lean diet and drink mostly water.

The acid reflux is under control if I remember to take the generic Pepcid. I’ll have to make it a daily habit instead of just taking it when u feel the burn. I get it from Costco and it is reasonably priced and effective, so there’s no real point in waiting to consume it.
